5/1/2008 - Monza Series Tire Branding Program |
|
| |
May 1, 2008
Attn: All Region 8 Members
Subject: Tire Branding for Region 8 Monza Series
In an effort to increase competition and reduce the costs of racing, a tire branding program will be implemented for the Region 8 Monza Series. This is not a brand specific program, i.e. Vega, Dunlop, Firestone, but a branding mark on one or both right side tires.
A brand will be created for each weekend of the Region 8 Monza Series. A unique mark will be added to the brand at the pit meeting, by a randomly chosen handler, just prior to the first tire being marked. Each car will have the chosen tire (s) branded at the scales immediately following qualifying. If you do not attempt to qualify you MUST have your tires branded by a Region 8 official prior to racing in any heat or main of the Region 8 Monza Series. All cars MUST run the branded tires on the car for the heats and mains of the Region 8 Monza Series.
After all tires are branded after Qualifying on Saturday another unique mark will be added to the brand to ensure the brand is not used again on Saturday. IF we have any additional members join the event for Sunday only, the brand will be used to mark tires on Sunday only. These tires will be accounted for by the race director.
The only time an unbranded tire will be allowed is for qualifying and practice. It is the handler’s responsibility to make sure that tires are branded prior to racing. If you are found to have raced with an unbranded tire, the driver will be disqualified from the race.
This program DOES NOT mean that branded tires can’t be moved from car to car. It simply means each time a car runs in a heat or main of the Region 8 Monza Series, it must have the unique Region 8 brand on the specific tire (s) branded that weekend.

4/5/2008 - Honda 120 Timing Rule Reminder |
|
| |
Honda 120 Timing Reminder:
Honda 120 engine ignition timing in ALL CLASSES must be 20 degrees BTDC or less. This may be achieved with either a new Tier III flywheel, or a QMA issued offset flywheel key. Effective January 1, 2009, however, all Honda 120 engines must use the Tier III flywheel.
Expect timing to be checked on all 120 motors at regional events (i.e. States Race, Monza Races.)
Penalty for ignition timing infractions, IN ALL 120 CLASSES, is a 30 day suspension.
If you have any questions, please contact your local tech director.
